Since 1995, the Department of Traffic and Transportation Management has been organizing the "The Traffic Safety and Law Enforcement Conference" annually, aiming to provide a platform for sharing research findings, knowledge, and practical experiences related to traffic law enforcement and traffic safety in Taiwan. In the year 2023 (the 112th year of the Republic of China), this event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the National Police Agency of the Ministry of the Interior, the National Highway Police Bureau of the Ministry of the Interior, the New Taipei City Government Traffic Bureau, the Taipei City Police Department, the Taipei City Government Traffic Bureau, the New Taipei City Government Police Department, the Taoyuan City Government Police Department, the Foundation for Automobile Traffic Accident Compensation, and the Alumni Association of the Central Police University. The event took place at our university's Science Hall on September 28th, 2023 (Thursday).
The theme of this year's seminar was "Building a Safe, Smooth, and Shared Smart Traffic Environment." The seminar was divided into three parts, including academic paper presentations, practical panel discussions, and a showcase of traffic law enforcement and road safety equipment. Approximately 400 participants from various sectors, including government agencies, academia, research institutions, the judiciary, law enforcement, and regional traffic accident investigation committees, were invited to attend. Professor Hsu from the Department of Civil Engineering and Institute of Traffic and Transportation of National Taiwan University delivered a special lecture on "Human-Centered Traffic and Traffic Safety," paving the way for us to create a human-centered traffic safety environment and mindset, ultimately aiming to achieve a traffic environment that embodies truth, goodness, beauty, and safety.
